GNA Chronicles: March

What up^^ The past few months have been filled with me spoiling myself and rekindling old passions. Welcome to my March GNA Chronicles! I definitely spent a lot of time watching and completing shows. Ima need Netflix to start adding the newer seasons of some of the ones I've finished.

TV Shows
Empire: This show was amazing and well acted. The cast is phenomenally talented, and I love that they actors actually perform their own music. I would have to say Cookie is my favorite character hands down. She better not let Derek Luke's character get away. I still have to watch the last two episodes, but I've heard and seen some great things.

Man vs. Food
My girl Tiffany and I started watching this late one night, and I became addicted. I started watching it with Joe, and we ended up finishing the show in a week or two lol We then switched over to Kitchen Nightmares and Diners, Dives, and Drive-Ins, but we've already finished those shows. I loved seeing all the food the host would try, but the challenges almost made ya girl sick a few times.

Eye Candy
This show had me from the first episode. I was happy to find out that it was from a YA novel by R.L. Stine. The plot is complex and refreshing, so if you like suspense and horror I def recommend this show.

I had a bit of vintage anime nostalgia and ended up watching Saint Seiya and Ronin Warriors. They both were good, but Saint Seiya took the cake. The first episode was so good that I re-watched it with Boba.

Card Games
Magic the Gathering: Khans of Tarkir
I've been getting back into Magic lately; Khans of Tarkir's intro pack rocked my socks! I got the red, white, and black tricolor deck. I haven't been able to find the Red/White intro pack for Fate Reforged, but as soon as I do best believe I'll cop it.

Literature
I decided to get some more graphic novels and comics since it's been awhile since I've read some. I'm heading to Special Edition NYC in June and want to be up on my comic game. Special Edition is a comic book festival in NYC. It'll be my first time attending, and it looks like it will be a lot of fun.

I recently went to see Insurgent with Boba and was blessed with its goodness. I'm really gonna have to read the series once I finish the movies. My wifey has told me that they are really good, but you know what they say the books are always better than the movies. I'll be seeing Age of Ultron next and can't wait! Excuse me while I go spend the rest of the night playing Story of Seasons^^ Whoo my body is ready for this game; expect a review ^_^ Night!

Dark Waters: Book Review

Evenin' everyone, I am back with a review for the last book I read. I decided to stick with Japanese literature and picked up a Japanese horror book by the author of The Ring, Koji Suzuki. Dark Water is a short story selection that explores the water and trash.

While these items seem like trash to others what's interesting is they really aren't. These items can either heal or wreak havoc. You'll find the review below the cut; I'll try to keep it as spoiler free as possible.
The book opens with a prologue of an elderly woman, Kayo, that is anticipating her son's family visit and being able to take walks with her granddaughter around the cape. The cape has many items that wash up on shore and she tells her granddaughter scary stories based off the items. Kayo feels, "Each item of debris has its own tale to tell. Any particularly intriguing thing you amy come across on the beach is best left untouched--because it begins to tell its tale to you, as soon as you pick it up. Fine if the story is heartwarming, but if it curdles your blood, things will never be the same."

Scandal in the Spotlight Prologue Review

Voltage has done it again with it's latest release Scandal in the Spotlight. I was excited for this game because I have a soft spot in my heart for boy bands from New Edition and Boys 2 Men to KAT-TUN and Backstreet Boys. Here are my thoughts^^
March 2, 2015

You are attending a concert for Japan's hottest boy band Revance. You received the tickets from a friend. The last song of the concert sounds similar to something you wrote. You discover that the band needs a new ghostwriter for their songs, and they want you!

The Guys of Scandal in the Spotlight
  • Kyohei Rikudoh: Charistmatic and domineering
  • Iori Enjo: Sadistic and cold
  • Kota Igarashi: Ornery
  • Nagito Aoshima: Flirty
  • Takashi Ninagawa: Stand offish
  • Ryo Chibana (Makoto): The secret sixth member of Revance; Kind and cheerful

My First Geek Girl Brunch | The Ghibli Brunch

Hey honey babes! This week has been snowy and rainy, and I'm looking forward to warmer weather. Last Saturday I attended my first Geek Girl Brunch, and it was awesome! Geek Girl Brunch is a monthly themed brunch for ladies only, sorry boys. It started in NYC, but now has chapters all over the word. There's even a chapter in Germany! So if you're interested see if they have one near you. February's brunch was a Studio Ghibli themed brunch at a restaurant called Do Or Dine. I wore my Tee Fury Ghibli/Beatles tee; it was hiding from me for a few days, but I was able to find it. Please enjoy the food porn^^
I was surprised to learn when I arrived that the restaurant was closed and only open for us. It was nice having the place to ourselves. I thought that was amazing. I arrived with about three or four other ladies; the remaining ladies around a few minutes later. We ended up being a squad about 30 deep.
