Special Edition NYC

Hey peeps, I hope ya'll been staying cool in this hot as heck weather. NYC is going through a heat wave and the last few days have been tough. Last month, I attended Special Edition with Boba and Rae for the first time. I've been making an effort to get more into the world of comics and graphic novels. I didn't have access to a comic book store until a Barnes and Noble was built when I was in high school and that doesn't even count lol Their selection was whack! So I never really paid comics and graphic novels any mind. The more I've watched movies based off them or heard my friends say how much I would love them, I decided why not. I figured Special Edition would be a great opportunity to learn more!

The comic book festival was held at Pier 94. It was my first time at the venue; I heard that it's usually held at Javits but there was already something that same weekend so they had to use a different place. I thought Pier 94 was okay, it definitely got a little hot and I wasn't a fan of the wonky lighting inside.

Boba headed to the NYCC ticket line to try to get tickets for his sister. Poor thing ended up being in line for almost four hours. He's such an awesome big brother. He was able to get her a 4 Day which I'm sure she'll love. He's the real mvp^^
Sorry for the hazy lighting, the lights they used inside had that effect on my cell phone camera. A few of my favorite vendors were there. Midtown Comics was having an amazing sale. I had to summon the chill within myself and not buy a bunch of stuff since we hadn't seen what was in the artist alley.

20 Sided Brunch| Geek Girl Brunch NYC

Hey peeps, super happy that I have the day off today. I attended my second Geek Girl Brunch last month and had a great time. The brunch was a nice way to spend a rainy day. We met at The Uncommons which is a gaming cafe near Washington Square Park. I was excited to learn from their website that they host Friday Night Magic! We used what they call their private board room for the brunch.
Their epic wall of games; the private room is thought that little door

I loved that they had a mix of traditional board and card games along with indie board/card games. They had a nice selection of Magic: The Gathering cards. They also have a full menu of food and drinks (including beer and wine). I decided to get a pepperoni personal pizza and it wasn't bad. There is a drink limit since the owner's want to have a family vibe in case parents want to come with their children. When I went it was only adults which was kinda refreshing because I didn't feel awkward. It's nice to know that there are other people that have nostalgia over playing board games.
The other side of the cafe

Gameosity.com sponsored the event and let us try some of their games. The representatives from Gameosity were really nice. My table decided to play The Game of Life. I started off being a farmer and then switched to being a lawyer. I wish I could make as much money as some of the jobs in the game lol They were making bank!

I was shocked that I one of the raffles! I typically don't win any kind of contest or giveaway, so it was an awesome surprise. I won a board game called Avalon. I'm excited to play it when I get enough people since I love the King Arthur mythology.
Overall, I had a lot of fun and it was great finding a new place that I would love to take Boba to. I'm excited to attend their event this week at Sakura Matsuri. It will be Lolita themed which is awesome because I haven't worn my lucky pack from Baby the Stars Shine Bright^^ I'm so happy that I found this group because it has been so positive and a lot of fun! I still need to write about what I went through with them to get that coord. I have a blog post coming up talking about my experiences ordering from a few companies online. Tomorrow me and my friends'll be fighting Titans at an event called Escape the Walled City in Staten Island with Real Escape Games. Wish ya girl luck!
