Hey peeps, I hope ya'll been staying cool in this hot as heck weather. NYC is going through a heat wave and the last few days have been tough. Last month, I attended Special Edition with Boba and Rae for the first time. I've been making an effort to get more into the world of comics and graphic novels. I didn't have access to a comic book store until a Barnes and Noble was built when I was in high school and that doesn't even count lol Their selection was whack! So I never really paid comics and graphic novels any mind. The more I've watched movies based off them or heard my friends say how much I would love them, I decided why not. I figured Special Edition would be a great opportunity to learn more!
The comic book festival was held at Pier 94. It was my first time at the venue; I heard that it's usually held at Javits but there was already something that same weekend so they had to use a different place. I thought Pier 94 was okay, it definitely got a little hot and I wasn't a fan of the wonky lighting inside.

Boba headed to the NYCC ticket line to try to get tickets for his sister. Poor thing ended up being in line for almost four hours. He's such an awesome big brother. He was able to get her a 4 Day which I'm sure she'll love. He's the real mvp^^
Sorry for the hazy lighting, the lights they used inside had that effect on my cell phone camera. A few of my favorite vendors were there. Midtown Comics was having an amazing sale. I had to summon the chill within myself and not buy a bunch of stuff since we hadn't seen what was in the artist alley.
Their artist alley was freakin amazing! I ended up buying two metal bookmarks and a sticker. There was so much talent there. Rae and I walked through her a few times because we wanted to make sure we didn't miss anything.

These items were made from a 3D printer!
Apparently it was also ex day lol Boba and Rae both spotted their exits. I remember the same thing happened to me the first NYCC Boba and I went to together. I spotted my ex and it was super awkward lol I swear NYC is one of the largest cities in the world and you always manage to run into people out of nowhere. There were some good run-ins, I actually saw a few of the ladies from the NY chapter of Geek Girl Brunch :)
There were a lot of amazing cosplayers
Rae and I attended the Diversity in Comics Panel which was great
Afterwards we meet up with my wifey, Laura, to celebrate her birthday. We finally had the long awaited triple double date with myself and Boba, Laura and Rae, and Nay and Mila. It was Mila and Boba's first time meeting each other in person. The six of us had such a blast! We had Thai food in the St. Marks area. We grabbed hookah and then finished off with dessert. We ate so much lol
Nay, me, and Laura
There was such an amazing turn out. I will say that I don't know if it's necessary to attend both days. We saw pretty much everything there. The only that would have been different if we had attended on Sunday would have been the panels. I think I would def go again in the future! Good night and thanks for reading^^
