My First Sakura Matsuri | Cherry Blossom Love

I hope everyone is enjoying the warm weather! I attended my first Sakura Matsuri at the Brooklyn Botanical garden with Tiffany. I only attended on Saturday, but next year depending on the events I would love to go both days. Geek Girl Brunch was holding a Lolita themed brunch where we brought on our food. The weather started out a little chilly, but gradually warmed up as the day went on.

I decided to spend the weekend with Tiffany. It's also nice to kick it with her and relax at her crib. We got up and helped each other get our coords on. For some reason I always hate pulling things like dresses and tight garments over my head lol It's like I'll always panic a tiny bit midway through like I'm gonna get stuck lmbo Been doing it since I was a kid lol Tiff always thinks it's funny because it's the second time she's seen me do it haha One day I'll master it!

Our journey was very interesting compared to the last time we wore Lolita together for the Novala Takemoto meet up at Baby. It was a lot more positive not that we cared either way haha A lot of people gave us nice compliments. I had a few older black women tell me they thought I looked really nice. We did receive interesting comments, too haha A guy asked if we were attending a tea party, a lady walked past us telling us we were in the Parasol Society. It's interesting having people talk about you when you're right in front of them. It's like uhhh I'm right here lol

We arrived right on time at 10 for the meet up. Geek Girl Brunch was giving away a few free tickets, and Tiff was able to win one :)
Tif's coord

I really love her Innocent World dress! I checked out there website and I love pretty much everything they have. I'm hoping to buy a dress from them to make a country Lolita coord with me being a Southern girl and all. I gotta represent!
My coord

It was the first time I wore my coord from my lucky pack from Baby. I like everything, but I'm not  a big fan of the blouse. I'll be looking for a new blouse at AnimeNEXT to replace it. I'm also hoping to buy a new dress while I'm there^^

The purse came from My Lolita Dress; it was my first time ordering from this site, and I bought a petticoat as well. I really liked the bag and petticoat's quality, the only thing I wasn't too keen on was some of the delay I experienced in getting the bag. *warning mini rant coming up* When I first purchased it I was told by the owner that the item was not in stock and would take 7-10 days to be ready. The website didn't reflect this, but it wasn't a big deal to me since I was ordering super early. I asked if the items could be sent separately and told her of the deadline. It had been about 11 or 12 days, and I hadn't heard anything back so I emailed the owner to check in. She stated that it would take longer and at this point I became annoyed. Like why do I have to email you for you to tell me that. If you need it was going to take more time, you should have let me know. I asked for the bag in a different color or a different bag slightly cheaper than the one I ordered and reminded her of when I needed the items by. Overall, ordering for them was okay and I may do it again in the future. The owner gets back to you promptly when you reach out to her, so that's a plus *end of rant*

The majority of the ladies arrived around 10:30, 11. We all headed to the lawn to check out the performances. It was about 11-13 of us total. The performances were amazing, and I really enjoyed the Taiko drumming! There was a dance group afterwards and they were really good.

Taiko drumming

I really love how intricate Taiko drumming is. The pieces had beautiful names and the group was really in sync. I loved the contrast in their playing. Some parts would be really smooth and tranquil and then the intensity would build up and they would yell while they were playing. It was so awesome to see how into it they were.

I've heard a few people complain about how crowded the event is becoming. I personally didn't find it to be too bad, but maybe that's because I've gone to NYCC on a Saturday lol I think it was easier for me because it was outside, so I didn't feel too cramped. I didn't get too see any of the vendor area or the private gardens. I think next year Tiff and I will go solo and check everything out. I heard the food lines were really long. The bathroom lines were redonkulous. It would take almost 30 minutes in line to get to the bathroom.
We didn't see the Parasol Society, but I saw a few pictures on tumblr and they looked super cute. We left around three because we wanted to head to Japan Society to take purikura. They have a both similar to the one Boba and I used at Mitsuwa. I hope they end up keeping because it's really convenient to get to. I'm excited to check out more of Sakura Matsuri next year.
