Hey everyone, I hope life has been treating you well. Last month I was able to attend Sebastian Masuda's lecture wit Tiff at Japan Society called Kawaii Meets Art and Fashion. I had to bust my butt to get there after work, but it was SO worth it. It was wonderful hearing about Sebastian's journey throughout his career. As someone that is getting into Japanese fashion, it was amazing to learn about someone that is revered in the fashion.
Sebastian Masuda also known as "King of Harajuku" is an icon of Harajuku and kawaii fashion and culture. He opened a store for his label 6%DOKIDOKI in 1995. It is the only remaining store from the early era of Harajuku fashion. He is also known for being the art director of Kyary Kyary Pyamu's hit smash PonPonPon music video. Sebastian is also an artist and has art exhibitions throughout the world.
He spoke in Japanese which was wonderful practice for me. There was a lovely translated that did a wonderful job conveying his feelings and thoughts. Sebastian talked about using the concepts of shock and color in his work. He's heavily influenced by Harajuku fashion and culture, because it's where different cultures come together. The fashion contains a mix of different styles and age groups. He also talked about what kawaii was. He explained that kawaii is creating your own very small personal universe, and it cannot be obstructed by anyone. This private space doesn't have to be colorful; it's anything you imagine. This resonated with me because when I first came across j fashion, I saw it as a way to express myself and the many sides of my personality. He also highlighted the importance social media has played in connecting others and spreading Harajuki and kawaii fashion and culture.
20 Sided Brunch| Geek Girl Brunch NYC
Hey peeps, super happy that I have the day off today. I attended my second Geek Girl Brunch last month and had a great time. The brunch was a nice way to spend a rainy day. We met at The Uncommons which is a gaming cafe near Washington Square Park. I was excited to learn from their website that they host Friday Night Magic! We used what they call their private board room for the brunch.
Their epic wall of games; the private room is thought that little door
I loved that they had a mix of traditional board and card games along with indie board/card games. They had a nice selection of Magic: The Gathering cards. They also have a full menu of food and drinks (including beer and wine). I decided to get a pepperoni personal pizza and it wasn't bad. There is a drink limit since the owner's want to have a family vibe in case parents want to come with their children. When I went it was only adults which was kinda refreshing because I didn't feel awkward. It's nice to know that there are other people that have nostalgia over playing board games.
The other side of the cafe
Gameosity.com sponsored the event and let us try some of their games. The representatives from Gameosity were really nice. My table decided to play The Game of Life. I started off being a farmer and then switched to being a lawyer. I wish I could make as much money as some of the jobs in the game lol They were making bank!
I was shocked that I one of the raffles! I typically don't win any kind of contest or giveaway, so it was an awesome surprise. I won a board game called Avalon. I'm excited to play it when I get enough people since I love the King Arthur mythology.
Overall, I had a lot of fun and it was great finding a new place that I would love to take Boba to. I'm excited to attend their event this week at Sakura Matsuri. It will be Lolita themed which is awesome because I haven't worn my lucky pack from Baby the Stars Shine Bright^^ I'm so happy that I found this group because it has been so positive and a lot of fun! I still need to write about what I went through with them to get that coord. I have a blog post coming up talking about my experiences ordering from a few companies online. Tomorrow me and my friends'll be fighting Titans at an event called Escape the Walled City in Staten Island with Real Escape Games. Wish ya girl luck!

My Wedding and 7 Rings Prologue Review
Evenin^^ Warm weather seems to be making it's way over to us. Voltage's released their newest game My Wedding and 7 Rings. I really enjoyed this game's prologue and was delighted to see that they brought back two characters from My Forged Wedding. Yamato and Ren can't seem to escape marriages of conveniences, sorry guys! I swear Voltage is pushing out these release, and I ain't even mad at them. As always you'll find spoilers underneath the cut, enjoy!
The prologue starts off with you being informed that you have to marry one of seven men that works at your company, and you have to do it within one year. The prologue goes to the beginning and explains how you find yourself in such a predicament. You day starts like a normal day at work; you have a lunch break with two of your girlfriends. Two of your high school friends, Yamato and Ren from My Forged Wedding, join the three of you. Through your banter with them, you reflect on how they were there for you after your parent's death. An announcement interrupts your thought and summons all employees for an important announcement.
