The GNA Chronicles ♥︎October '14♥︎

Hey lovely peeps! I decided to start a blog series called The GNA Chronicles. It stands for Geek/Nerd Activities, and it will be a monthly or bimonthly post that discusses what geeky and nerdy things are taking over my life at the moment. They'll occasionally be a few non geeky things peppered in like music and food.

Manga
For some reason lately I have been consuming the frack out of manga. I am on the last chapter of Fullmetal Alchemist (ahh the feels!). It has been such an amazing read even from the beginning. I really should have read it a long time ago. I really want to cosplay Edward, but I don't know if I'm ready to take on making that arm. I also recently finished rereading my fav yaoi a few days ago Love Mode. It's a bit on the older side and I love it because it has two overarching stories but then little snippets of other couples throughout. The main couples are very interesting, but Reiji and Naoya are my fav couple. Love Mode also had some amazing, heartfelt quotes that stick with me. The next manga I devoured was Pochamani. I can't wait for the next chapter to come out. The main couple is super adorable.
The OTP
Video Games
I recently bought Super Smash Bros for my XL and it has given me life! It's the first smash game I've owned, and I love it. Boba and I bought together so that we can battle each other. I actually haven't really played a smash game before. I've seen people go head to head on a console, but never joined in. That's definitely gonna change now lol
I like to use Marth and Lucario; I'm pretty sure there will be other characters that I like, but those are my main two right now.

Smash got me so pumped that I went and picked up another game the next day. I decided to buy my first Tales game, Tales of the Abyss. So far I really like it and it's different from most RPGs I've played. Boba can't wait for me to finish it, so he can borrow it.

Otome games
Sota's route from Voltage's First Love Diaries: A Kiss on the Beach finally came out. I've been taking my time playing through it, and I'm really liking his character. I enjoy the dynamic between Sota and the MC. I can't wait to see how the story progresses.
That blush tho

TV Shows
Gotham mo freaking Gotham!!!! I am in love with that show and every episode has been awesome to me. I can't thing of a single thing I don't like, *coughs* well besides the whole awkward, offensive blackface incident. The show has been amazing and I'm look forward to what's to come. I watched the first episode of Forever, but was ambivalent about the show. I didn't really like it or dislike it. The first episode of The Flash was pretty good, and I need to catch up on the rest.

That's it for this post^^ What are some new geeky/nerdy activities that you've gotten into? Also, let me know if your life is also being taken over by any of the things above haha Thanks for reading and have a happy Halloween!

Seamless is Ruining My Life

Hey boos! I finally had a weekend to myself to relax. I did some running around, but not as much as usual. Boba, myself, and our friend James played Guild Wars 2 on Friday and participated in on our their events for Halloween. It was so much fun to play that game after such a long break^^ We need to have a LAN party soon with our guild.

Anywho, y'all know that I love to eat. I'm that person that will have food chilling in my fridge and will ignore it and take my butt out to eat like I got money. Living in NYC does not make it easier when you have wonderful, seductive websites like Seamless. For some reason, I do not like to cook. It's not that I can't cook, it's just that I don't want to which is a habit that I need to break. Back home down South if I want to order food, I have to get in my car, drive somewhere, then order it because they don't deliver. Or I have to call and talk to someone on the phone. When I first moved up here and heard of Seamless my mind was blown. I was like wait wuhhhhh? I can have delicious food delivered to me without talking to anyone or leaving my home?! Shoootttt, I'm sprung. And believe me y'all the Seamless thirst can be oh so real. It's so nice to order food on the way home and have it arrive shortly after you.

I would usually get Seamless only on the weekends during the day and then do my usual food runs on weekend nights. A couple of months ago and up until recently, it was so bad that I would order off Seamless everyday after work and on the weekends and go out. This adds up to a lot of money if you aren't paying attention.

I'm trying to be better about my finances especially sent I want to get more into different fashion styles and travel more. So, I decided to take a look at just how much I was spending and make some positive changes. I've bought more groceries and am concentrating on saving more money. All in all everything has been going well. I'm happy that I recognized where my money was going and made a change ^_^ I'll let you know how my progress goes especially on the cooking front and thanks for reading!

Japan Block Fair and Hookah Bar

Hey loves! I hope that you're doing well and enjoying the holiday. I had to work earlier even though no one everyone else was off >_< Luckily, my homie and co-worker Mehgan had to come in, too. So, I wasn't too afraid to be in that huge building by myself that may or may not be haunted *clutches pearls*

I wanted to take the time to talk about an event I attended last month. Oh and before I start let me say that Comic Con was awesome this year. I definitely want to go for four days next year with Boba. I have some nice photos that I'll be sharing soon. On to the event!

I heard about the Japan Block Fair through twitter, so I asked my boo Clarissa if she wanted to go with me. We meet up around by the West 4th subway stop and walked to the fair together which was on 6th Ave between Washington Place and Wavery Place. It started out as a normal street fair with the usual vendors. I love running into street fairs because the vendors have the best food. When the street fair's location we were a little disappointed. It was super tiny, there were only a few vendors set up.
 Those materials were beautiful^^
 These yukata's were so lovely

Despite the small size of the fair they had some nice food stalls. They had takoyaki too! Clarissa and I both wanted marble soda (aka Ramune) so we left and went to St. Marks and hit up Sunrise Mart. While we were out my wifey, Laura invited Boba and I to dinner at Bill's Bar and Burger; their food and milkshakes are the bomb. I was super excited because I hadn't seen her and her gf, Rae, in a little bit.

So, Clarissa and hung out for another hour or two, and afterwards I picked up Boba from work and we headed to the restaurant. To my surprise Laura and I's good friend Naomi was there, the five of us always have a blast. Unfortunately, Naomi's gf couldn't make it. I think if the six of us went on a triple date the world would explode lol Afterwards, we ventured to a hookah bar and we had strawberry hookah. Fun fact: Boba loves hookah a lot and owns one; he also used to work at a hookah shop when he was younger.

It was a really awesome night and even though the Japan Block Fair left me a little disappointed, I still appreciate that I can attend events like that in NYC often. It was nice to get out and enjoy the nice weather with a friend. Thanks for reading!

After Dark: Book Review

Hey everybody! I hope everyone's week has been going well. I love to read, but haven't had the time until recently. I thought why not review some of the books I've been reading. So, welcome to my book reviews! If I come up with a catchy name or something I'll let you know lol

The first book I'll be reviewing is After Dark by Haruki Murakami. I'm a huge fan of his work and this is the third book of his that I've read. I will say that if you haven't read a book by him before, I would recommend reading a shorter one first. The longer novels tend to leave my slightly annoyed in the beginning with all the mystery, but that could be just me.

After Dark tells the story of a night filled with random encounters and strange occurrences. We follow Mari, a bookish college student, for most of the story. The reader gets the sense that she's avoiding someone or something. Her night starts off simple enough and before she knows it, she's pulled into some interesting situations.

What I like about this book is that Murakami is able to bring you into his world very quickly. I also think that there's naturally something interesting about the flow of time as it gets really late into the night. Places changes, strange things happens, and some things aren't what they seem. The book captures the essence of the odd things you'll find alone when it's very late at night.

Harvest Moon Tomfoolery?!

Hi lovely peeps! I am finally finding more time for myself. There's still a lot of posts that I need to write, but I'm not too far behind. It's been a dreary week in NYC, but today is looking a little better. I can't believe next week will be New York Comic Con! I'm really excited to attend^^ So as some of you know from my post awhile back that I am really excited for the next Harvest Moon game, or wait can I even call it a Harvest Moon game anymore?! Okay, let me start at the beginning.

A few days I ago I realized that it was getting closer to the release for the new Harvest Moon game (Story of Seasons). So, I decided to search the tag Harvest Moon tag in Twitter. So I see a game called The Lost Valley, and I'm like bish whet? Two Harvest Moon games in the same year?! Ayyyy turn up! But then something told me this can't be right upon closer inspection of the box art. I then remembered an article I read about how Natsume was not going to be distributing Story of Seasons.

To keep it short and simple, Harvest Moon's actual name is Bokujō Monogatari (牧場物語) which basically means Farm Story. In the West, it's called Harvest Moon, but the company that makes Bokujō Monogatari no longer owns the name Harvest Moon. Natsume retained the use of the title Harvest Moon. So essentially this Lost Valley game is not a Bokujō Monogatari game. It's a separate farming simulation/otome game made by Natsume.
This is Story of Seasons, which is the next game by the makers of Bokujō Monogatari
The Lost Valley, the new farming simulation game Natsume is creating with the Harvest Moon name

I don't really know what this means for the future of Bokujō Monogatari as far as naming conventions go. XSEED is just calling it Story of Seasons, so we'll see if the makers behind Bokujō Monogatari come up with a new Western title so people we be able to easily recognize it as their game. I hope too many people aren't left unawares and buy The Lost Valley game on accident. I know I would be ready to go H.A.M if that happened to me. So be careful what you buy! If any decides to give The Lost Valley a chance let me know how it is. I haven't played Minecraft before, but I saw a few people saying it had similar elements to that came so they weren't interested in it. Thanks for reading!
