Voltage Inc. Otome Game Day and Personal Review Pt. 2

Hello peeps! I am back with the next post of my Voltage, Inc. review. You can find the first post here : ) In this post, I'll be reviewing four more Voltage games. Leggo!

5. My Sweet Bodyguard
November 9th, 2012
The prologue opens with you watching news in the middle of a crowded street about a new handsome Prime Minister that was just elected. Suddenly a man in a mask with a gun attacks you. You are saved by a woman and pulled into a helicopter, but you have no clue what's going on. You later found out that you are the daughter of the newly elected Prime Minister.

I enjoyed this story more than I thought. The story line is grounded in reality, and it gets me thinking which I love. One thing I wonder about is what happened made the MC's mother decide not to tell let her see her father.

The MC: This MC is giving me life! I loved how she behaved in the helicopter. Subaru was being a little mean. Like why would you talk to someone that has no clue what the heck is going on like that?! Like bruh, really! Subaru has no chill apparently. The art style wasn't my favorite.

The Guys of My Sweet Bodyguard
  • Subaru: Alpha male
  • Kaiji: Your childhood friend. Teases you.
  • Sora: Fun and cheerful.
  • Katsuragi: Strong and serious.
  • Misuki- not in the prologue
  • Ishigami-not in the prologue
  • Goto- not in the prologue
  • Kurosawa- not in the prologue
Thoughts
Attractive: Goto
Intriguing Character Description: Subaru, Katsuragi, Goto
Routes I Want to Purchase After Playing: Katsuragi
Guys I Didn't Care For: Subaru, Sora, Kaiji. Did I like anyone in the prologue? lol

Note: There are four coming soon spots.

6. Be My Princess
 December 4th, 2012
You are living in a foreign country as an exchange student. You help a man avoid ruining his clothes. In turn he invites you to a party where you meet the prince of your dreams.

For some reason this was the hardest prologue for me to play. It took me about three times to get through it, and I don't know why. Maybe there were too many accidental meetings and not enough time for me to get to know the MC. I realized that I really do enjoy hearing the MC's background, thoughts, and feelings before the story takes off. In some ways it made since because you as the player are thrown into things just like the MC, but usually there is a least a little more background information in most Voltage prologues.

Voltage Inc. Otome Game Day and Personal Review Pt. 1

Hey homies! This is gonna be my first post in my Voltage otome game review. My trip down the slippery slope of dating sims/otome games started with Harvest Moon. For those that don't know otome games are romance game targeted towards the ladies. You play as a main character (aka MC) that you don't see and make choices that affect the story's outcome. From Harvest Moon I fell further into the abyss by playing otome games on my computer. I also have a post talking about my anticipation for the next game. I first heard of Voltage through a tumblr I follow called English Otome Games; the first game I saw was In Your Arms Tonight. I thought the plot sounded amazing. I finally bought my first smartphone, played the prologue of In Your Arms Tonight, and hit rock bottom in Voltage's world haha I decided that should give their other titles a chance.

I will be playing all the prologues in order. I decided to play in order to see if there's any changes or advancements in their style, writing, characterizations, etc. I might play the first chapter of characters I like and/or newly released characters that are not in the prologue. This post will review the first five Voltage games. At the end of the reviews, I'll have one final post where I briefly analyze Voltage's games as a whole. Let's get started!

1. Pirates in Love

July 29, 2011
Some meanie pirates attack the bar that you work at and two pirates save you. You flee the bar and decide to hid in a barrel, but before you can get out it's loaded onto a ship. You hit your head and lose consciousness in the barrel. When you awake you are still in the barrel and aboard a ship. A pirate from the same crew as the two pirates that saved you before lets you out and then mayhem ensues. You learn that you have to share a room with one of the men. Luckily, you get to pick which one.

This prologue starts with a bang, and I like the pirate slang. Eduardo and Russell were SOOO not funny with joking about throwing me off the boat. I kinda liked Nathan even though he was rough with the MC when he picked her up.

The MC: I like her so far. She is smart and sarcastic which I like. Girl's got some spunk!

The Guys of Pirates in Love
  • Russell: He's impulsive and isn't afraid to start a fight. He's also a little scatterbrained lol
  • Eduardo: The smart ass, kinky one. He says a mean things about the MC. He also makes really dirty comments. I can't tell if he's a sadist or just a douche.
  • Christopher: The really nice, gentle ship doctor. He's very caring and polite. He actually introduces you to everyone.
  • Nathan: Super tsundere to the rescue. He doesn't smile at all; he picks the MC up and throws her over his shoulder. I think there is sweet side there because he immediately takes you to the doctor when he realizes you hit your head.
  • Thomas: He's a little naive and super sweet.
  • Morgan: The captain of the crew. He's super jovial and easygoing.
  • Alan: He isn't in the prologue : (
  • Leonardo: He isn't in the prologue either.
Thoughts
Attractive: Eduardo, Morgan, Alan, Leonardo

Intriguing Character Description: Alan and Thomas

Routes I Want to Purchase: Eduardo, Nathan, Morgan

Guys I Didn't Care For: Russell

Note: Alan and Leonardo weren't in the prologue, so I couldn't get a sense of their character outside of the description.

Memorable lines
Really bruh? Nobody asked you how you felt. Since you're an option in this game, I know I have to be some kind of cute.
Some of them hooligans coulda fooled me!
